How To Use the Dropbox File Field in ACF?

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 20 views

The Easy Dropbox Integration plugin adds a Dropbox File field type to Advanced Custom Fields (ACF): pick one or more existing files from your connected Dropbox account, in any field group, on any post type — plus Elementor Pro dynamic tags for the picked file’s URL or name.

Step 1: Enable the ACF Module

  • Go to Settings → Modules → ACF from the Easy Dropbox Integration dashboard and enable it.

Step 2: Add a Dropbox File Field

  • Go to Custom Fields → Field Groups and add or edit a field group.
  • Add a new field and set its Field Type to Dropbox File.
  • Turn on Allow multiple files if the field should hold more than one file.

Step 3: Pick a File

  • On the edit screen for any post the field group applies to, click Choose from Dropbox inside the field.
  • Pick one or more files from your connected account.
  • Remove a picked file at any time with the × next to it.

Step 4: Use the Field’s Value

  • Wherever the theme calls get_field() for this field, it returns the picked file(s) as id/name data.
  • With Elementor Pro active, the ACF Dropbox File URL and ACF Dropbox File Name dynamic tags make the picked file’s link or name available directly inside any Elementor widget.

Step 5: Save & Publish

Update the post as usual — the picked Dropbox file(s) are saved with the field.
