How To Sync Dropbox Files with the WordPress Media Library?

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 24 views

Easy Dropbox Integration Premium’s Media Library Integration shows the files in a chosen Dropbox folder as regular-looking items inside your WordPress Media Library — no re-uploading, and no separate picker to learn.

Step 1: Enable the Media Library Module

  • Go to Settings → Modules from the Easy Dropbox Integration dashboard.
  • Enable Media Library and save.

Step 2: Choose Your Media Library Root Folder

  • Go to Settings → Media Library.
  • Pick the Dropbox folder you want synced into the Media Library. Every file inside it (and its subfolders) becomes visible as a virtual attachment.

Step 3: Browse Your Files

  • Open Media → Library in WordPress as usual.
  • Your Dropbox files appear alongside (or instead of) your local uploads, with thumbnails, file names, and sizes.
  • Use the Dropbox / Media Library toggle in the sidebar to switch between your synced Dropbox files and native WordPress media.

Step 4: Insert Files Anywhere

  • Select a Dropbox file from the Media Library the same way you’d select any upload — in the block editor, a classic editor field, or a page builder’s media picker.

Step 5: Keep Everything in Sync

  • If a file’s name or thumbnail in WordPress ever looks out of date, click the Repair Media Library button on the Media Library toolbar to re-sync everything from Dropbox.
  • To keep the library updated automatically, go to Settings → Synchronization and enable auto-sync — new and changed Dropbox files will then sync on a schedule without a manual repair.

Step 6: Make a File Permanent (Optional)

  • To copy a Dropbox file into WordPress as a real local attachment, open it in the Media Library and use Import to WP Media (or Convert to Local) from its actions.
